There are many more lesser known rivers within a few hours of Calgary as well. We can take you
to any of these fine destinations which are slightly "off the map". We also take you places that we don't dare list here too.
Castle River
- This jewel lies south of the Crowsnest Pass, and has good numbers of cutthroat, bull, and
rainbow trout. Some really nice bull trout, large cutts, and some absolutely stunning scenery make this a top choice among
those "in the know".
Highwood River
- This stream is only about an hour southwest of Calgary, and provides really great scenery. We
think it's one of the prettiest places we've ever fished in, and that says a lot. It does hold good numbers of rainbow, bull,
and cutthroat as well as the odd brookie too! While you won't quite catch the numbers you might in the Oldman or Crow, this
stream will leave a lasting impression with it's marvelous scenery.
Cataract Creek
- So you want fish and lots of them? Cataract is a great option for you then. This stream is both
very pretty, and also filled with brookies, from 6 to 12 inches (though, we've seen a few around 16+). This is a great place
to try out that light rod, or just really enjoy a day on the water.
Racehorse Creek
- This Oldman River tributary is a lot of fun to fish. not only do we find really solid numbers
of cutthroat trout, but some very large ones as well. A good mix of numbers + size mankes this a really good destination.
Throw in the odd bull trout as well, and days here are exciting!
Carbondale River
- This Castle tributary is a load of fun to fish as well. A small river full of cutthroats that
get to a healthy size, as well as a decent smattering of bull trout throughout the system. This river can produce incredible
numbers of fish on some days.
Alpine Lakes
- Experience rugged rocky mountain scenery in a number of area lakes that are both a scenic hike
to get to, and excellent fishing once we are there. We can take you to a few of our favorites! Mid-July thru August only!
MOUNTAIN STREAM WALK AND WADE - $400 for 2 people and 50
for each extra angler after that - we'll take you to any of these streams, or combine some time on these and other streams.
The day out from calgary is very flexible. All of these streams are located southwest of Calgary, and several can be fished
in one day. Combine the Oldman with some time on the Livingstone, or Racehorse Creek. Maybe you'd like to see Cataract Creek,
but also fish the Highwood River a little bit. These are all very possible options. Each one is special in it's
own ways, and fishes a bit differently. You can talk with your guide about your preferences on the way out, and together you
can choose a place that will be the most fun for you!
